Miscellany

Here goes all the stuff that doesn't have an obvious home in the rest of the web site, the grab-bag of everything.

Excerpts from Letters

For years I carried on a correspondence via e-mail. I've just recently begun culling it for items that may be of interest, and am collecting them here. This particular portion of the web site is sure to expand...

Wizard of Oz Trivia

For some strange reason I've always been attracted to trivia about the great old 1939 movie "The Wizard of Oz." Here's a link to my trivia collection.

Computer Stuff

As a sometime computer geek and occasional programmer, I'm definitely in contact with and using computers on a daily basis. (As if that were anything unusual...)

Consider this part of the web site as a schmooz section on matters digital. What with all the abundant fancy-pants computer-oriented web sites online, there's no need for yet another 'tech talk' section on a personal website. That's not what I have here--I only offer various essays, thoughts, and presentations on my computer usage.

General Musical Articles

I do a fair amount of writing on music, some of it for my students, and some of it professional--including program notes for the San Francisco Symphony. This section includes a number of articles, mostly by me, but sometimes articles from other writers which I find compelling. (Some of them are encrypted, which means that you can't view them unless you've spoken to me personally about them and get a password from me to unlock them.)

Please note that my San Francisco Symphony program notes are not found on this site; they belong to the SFSO, which puts them on their own website. You can access the current set of program notes (plus all the earlier ones back to the beginning of the season) here.
